Welcome Circus Tykes Parents,
We are looking forward to an exciting and busy year with your two and a half and three-year old. They will experience some new and exciting changes to their lives.
Communication between parents and teachers is the key to a successful experience for your child at MudPies. The Parent handbook you received upon enrolling will provide you with a review of the general policies and procedures at our center. In addition, this note contains special information to help you understand our classroom. Referring to both, as well as meeting with us to discuss any concerns, will help ease the transition for your family to our classroom. We extend a welcome to you as parents and to your child for becoming a part of our class.
Our main objective at MudPies is to provide a positive atmosphere in which your child can grow physically, intellectually, socially and emotionally. Their learning experiences will include learning to potty, improving, self-help skills, recognizing their name counting, and introducing them to the calendar. We also try to keep an open door policy.
If you have any suggestions that will be beneficial to all, feel free to tell one of the staff members or leave a note in the class. We’ll try to respond as promptly as possible. If any problems with your child arise the caregivers will contact you verbally or through personal notes.
Our activity plans are always kept outside the class room door. Please be sure to get one. This will help you to stay informed on what your child will be doing in the class. Sometimes special notes will be written on the board outside the door. Those notes can also be beneficial to you with things going on in their class. There is also a Daily Schedule that details our daily events. It’s always posted on the Parent Board in the classroom. All information you obtain can be instrumental in the discussion you have with your child during their ride home.
We take pride in our learning centers. Ask your child about playing and learning in the classroom centers. The organization of playthings into learning centers communicates to the child that this is a safe and comfortable place where people are respected. A well-organized and clearly defined classroom provides a positive environment rather than the confusing, overwhelming choices of a cluttered arrangement. Children like to participate in areas that look inviting. A pleasant environment encourages them to become independent and to learn to replace materials when they have finished with them. Part of our learning process is learning responsibility for ourselves, our behavior, our things and the property of others. We encourage children to put away materials and toys when they finish with them. You can help by encouraging cooperation at home. Together we will be patient as your child learns to put away his or her things.
We will also participate in arts, crafts, simple cooking projects, gross motor activities, songs, fingerplays and language activities. We stress good manners such as using the words ‘please” and “thank-you”. Most importantly we play. Play is our best training for becoming independent!
They learn to take pride in their classroom. Activity areas are designed for small group plays. The caregiver encourages cooperation and sharing of materials. The message children receive is to trust and cooperate. Enriched centers challenge children to explore, to solve problems and to think for themselves. The message becomes clear: This is a good place to be!
Our lunchtime is 11:30-12:00 and naptime is 12:30-2:30. . We also have TV days in the class. They are Thurs and Fri.
We always try to have a fun-filled day so sometimes the kids will get a little messy. Since this is also the potty training room we would like for the kids to have at least three changes of clothes in their cubby. This will allow them to change when any accidents occur. Please make sure that you include socks in their clothes as well. The parents provide this snack so keep a watchful eye out for this note.
We hope that you are happy with the entire positive growth and development that we encourage your child to achieve. We are looking for better ways to serve you so please remember all suggestions are welcome.
