Sharon White has been with NWCDC since 1998. She has directed both children and teachers at A Great Start, Model City, King and Franciscan. Currently the center director at Franciscan, Ms. Sharon has accepted every assignment without excuse or complaint and inspires others with her calm assurance. She considers being in the company of children the most enjoyable aspect of her job. Her hobbies are fishing, traveling and reading for fun. She leads with a flag, not a switch. She says “let’s do it” rather than “get it done.” Ms. Sharon inspires all who meet her

Jean Shoaf has been with NWCDC’s Central Office since August 2005.  As the receptionist and representative of first impressions, Ms. Jean personifies grace under pressure as she aptly and courteously routes visitors, telephone calls and mail with calm assurance.  In charge of food and maintenance supplies, Ms. Jean is involved in every aspect of procurement including inventory control, ordering and distribution.  For fun, Ms. Jean enjoys reading novels by African American authors and listening to her favorite Old School jams.

Judy Booe has been with NWCDC since 1972 and is the director of Mocksville Child Development Center.  Ms. Judy is a tower of strength and a strong advocate for quality early childhood education.  Resilient and loyal, tough and loving, the children and faculty thank Ms. Judy for caring for them the most when they deserve it the least.  Ms. Judy enjoys the History Channel, writing poetry, and going fishing with her family. Her continued years of service is testament to her dedication and commitment to the children of Mocksville.

Gloria Black has been with NWCDC for over nine years and is in charge of enrollment for all NWCDC centers as well as accounts receivable.  Ms. Gloria has seen first hand how state and federal financial policies, procedures and requirements are constantly amended to ensure quality care of young children.  Ms. Gloria considers her best attribute her ability to adapt to change.  For fun, she enjoys spoiling her three grandchildren and her annual trips to Atlantic City and Las Vegas.            


Steve Hairston has been with NWCDC since 1999 and as maintenance supervisor is always on hand in a moments notice.  In addition to providing general facility maintenance, Steve keeps the center’s equipment and appliances in working condition.  He makes necessary repairs to the buildings and keeps the playgrounds landscaped, mulched, sanded and tilled.  For fun, Steve enjoys deep sea fishing and playing with his grandchildren.
